1913 Packard Six cylinder blocks.
1913 Packard Six cylinder blocks.
Core boxes and patterns made from wood. These are used to make sand
cores and impressions. New casting sectioned on the right for inspection.
Sand cores for water jackets, cylinder bores along with intake and exhaust ports set into the bottom half of the mould.
Top of a block looking into the combustion chamber and water jacket. The visible rust is caused by the water used for pressure testing. This is done after each machining operation to check for any flaws uncovered in the casting during the machining operations.
